EAP release notes: dimensional tagging, Boolean tagging and more

Released on 31 August 2026.

This release is all about tagging. You can now add dimensions to your tagged facts, and numeric tagging goes well beyond monetary amounts, with shares, percentages, per-share figures and ratio units. We've also introduced Boolean tagging for true/false statements and clearer labels in the Taxonomy Browser.

What's new

Dimensional tagging

Many disclosures only make sense in a dimensional context. In the Statement of Changes in Equity, for example, a value belongs to a specific component of equity, such as retained earnings. Previously, Vicosight could only tag a fact against an entity and a period. We're pleased to introduce dimensional tagging: you can now see which dimensions apply to a tagged fact and assign the right members to it, directly in the Inspector. It works for both numbers and text, and the dimensions you choose are carried through to the exported report.

How it works

  1. Select a tagged fact. The new Dimensions section in the Inspector shows the dimensions already on the fact, and the dimensions that are available for its concept according to the taxonomy.
  2. Use the plus button to add a dimension, then pick a member from its member tree. You can search the tree to find a member quickly, and you can combine several dimensions on the same fact, one member per dimension.
  3. Save. The fact is updated, and its dimensions appear as badges in the facts overview.

Vicosight only offers the members that are valid for the concept, so you can't create an invalid combination by mistake. Each dimension's default member is clearly marked, and choosing it simply removes the dimension from the fact, because default members are never reported explicitly in ESEF.

Looking ahead

We're now extending dimensions to financial statement tables, so that you can assign dimension members to whole rows and columns, and to the extension taxonomy that Vicosight generates for your report.

Numeric tagging for shares, percentages and ratios

Annual and sustainability reports contain far more than amounts in a currency: share counts, percentages, earnings per share and intensity metrics such as emissions per revenue. You can now tag shares, percentages, per-share figures and ratios from start to finish, with the right unit and the right value every time.

  • Units that match the concept: the unit picker now only offers units that are valid for the concept you've selected, such as currencies for monetary amounts or shares for share counts. For per-share and intensity concepts, you choose the numerator and denominator to build the ratio unit.
  • Percentages: a value shown as 25% in your report is reported as 0.25, as XBRL requires, while the visible text stays exactly as it is. The Inspector preview shows the value that will be reported, so you can check it before you move on.
  • Tables: you can apply these concepts to a whole row or column of a financial statement table and bulk-edit their attributes. Changes that aren't valid for a concept's type are blocked or skipped.
  • Icons in the Taxonomy Browser: monetary, shares, percentage and per-share concepts each have their own icon, so you can tell them apart before you tag.

We've also made the Tag Inspector safer: when the number format you've selected can't be applied to the value, the Save button is now disabled until you choose a compatible format.

Boolean tagging

Reports often include statements that are legally required and resolve to a simple yes or no, for example a confirmation from the directors. You can now tag these as Boolean facts. When you select a true/false concept in the Taxonomy Browser, Vicosight asks whether the selected text means True or False and tags it accordingly, without you having to touch any technical attributes. The Inspector shows the reported value, and you can switch it between True and False at any time. Your text in the report stays exactly as written.

Clearer labels in the Taxonomy Browser

Some concepts appear more than once in the base taxonomy with different labels. In the Statement of Changes in Equity, for instance, equity appears both at the beginning and at the end of the period. Previously, the Taxonomy Browser showed the same standard label for both, which made them hard to tell apart. It now shows the label the taxonomy intends for each position, such as "Equity at beginning of period" and "Equity at end of period", and keeps that label when you apply the concept.

Changelog

Tagging

New

  • Assign dimension members to tagged facts from the new Dimensions section in the Inspector, with dimension badges in the facts overview.
  • Tag shares, percentages, per-share figures and other numeric values, with a unit picker that only offers valid units and lets you build ratio units.
  • Apply these numeric concepts to whole table rows and columns, and bulk-edit their attributes.
  • Tag Boolean (true/false) statements and switch their value in the Inspector.

Improvements

  • The Save button in the Tag Inspector is disabled while the selected number format can't be applied to the value.
  • The group abstract picker in the Presentation tab is hidden when there are no abstracts to choose from.

Taxonomy

New

  • Admins can choose ESEF 2025 - IAS 1 or ESEF 2025 - IFRS 18 as the base taxonomy in the Vicosight Settings dialog.

Improvements

  • The Taxonomy Browser shows each concept with the label the taxonomy intends for its position, such as "Equity at beginning of period".
  • Numeric concepts in the Taxonomy Browser have type-specific icons.
  • Extension concepts can now use the non-negative monetary data types.
  • The Taxonomy Browser filter dialog now saves your selection when you click outside it.

Editor

Improvements

  • Unlocking a section now releases the lock straight away, without the extra "Unsaved Changes" dialog.
