EAP release notes: tagging in the editor, InDesign extension and more
Discover the latest EAP release for Vicosight, featuring native tagging, an InDesign extension, and enhanced editing tools for streamlined reporting.
Released on 7 April 2026.
This release brings two major additions to tagging: numeric tags now understand how your numbers are formatted and whether they should be reported as negative, and you can tag an entire section of your report in one action with block tagging. In the InDesign & InCopy extension, linked Vicosight content is now much easier to manage, with unlinking, navigation and update indicators that refresh live. We've also fixed a range of issues across tagging, Review notifications and the extension panel.
Financial statements present numbers for human readers, with thousands separators, comma or dot decimals and negative amounts shown in brackets. Until now, a numeric tag recorded the value, unit, scale and decimals, but not how the number was written or whether it should be reported as negative. We're pleased to introduce number format and sign handling for numeric tags, so the value that ends up in your filing matches what your report means, not just what it shows. You can also check the reported value directly in the inspector before you move on.
For context, Inline XBRL keeps a number's presentation separate from its reported value. The Transformation Rules Registry published by XBRL International defines how formatted numbers are converted into reported values, and a negative value is expressed with the sign attribute rather than inferred from brackets or a minus sign. Vicosight supports both TRR 5 and TRR 6.
Tagging long narrative disclosures, such as notes or accounting policies, by selecting text across several pages is slow, and the selection is easily broken when the content changes. With block tagging, you can now tag an entire section of your report in one action, straight from the document outline. Because the tag is attached to the section itself rather than to a text selection, it stays in place when you edit the text inside it.
We're working on continuing block tags across sections, so a disclosure that spans more than one section can be tagged in the same way.
Once Vicosight content is placed in your layout, keeping it in step with the source matters as much as placing it. The update indicator in the Vicosight panel now refreshes live, so you see as soon as a newer version of a linked section is available, and you can fetch it when you're ready. Updates keep your existing styling wherever possible. You can unlink a section or segment when you want to keep the text as it is, and jump from the link button in the panel straight to the linked content in your document. If linked content no longer exists in Vicosight, the link is marked as broken so you can unlink it, and documents that contain Vicosight content can now be saved back to your project.
You can now see where Vicosight content is used without opening InDesign. On the project page, a link icon next to a section shows which chapters use it, and you can go straight to any of those chapters. On the chapter page, View Sections (Vicosight) lists the sections the chapter is linked to, and linked chapters show when a section they use has been updated.
