Released on 30 June 2026.
This release brings two big changes to everyday work in Vicosight: you can now tag financial statement tables a whole row or column at a time, and the section editor saves your changes automatically, without manual locking or drafts. Alongside these, we've added search to the taxonomy browser, table-level root abstracts and preferred label roles.
Primary financial statements are made up of large tables, and until now every numeric cell had to be tagged one at a time. We're pleased to introduce structural table tagging. You can now select a whole row or column, choose a concept from the taxonomy browser, and apply it to every numeric cell in that row or column in one action. Each cell still becomes its own individual fact, so nothing changes in the output: you simply get there much faster.
Every numeric cell in the selection is tagged. Labels, headers and other non-numeric cells are skipped, and if a cell is already tagged you're asked before anything is replaced. The period and unit of each new fact are set from your project defaults, and Vicosight checks that the period fits the concept you chose.
The same structural selection works for maintaining facts you've already tagged. Select a table, row or column and the Inspector shows a bulk editor for all the facts inside it, where you can update decimals, scale, format, unit and period dates in one go. If some facts can't take the change, for example because the period doesn't suit their concept, you're told which ones weren't updated.
Next, we're adding period settings at row and column level, so the facts in each column pick up the right period automatically, together with visual cues that show which cells, rows and columns are already tagged.
Previously, editing a section worked like a check-out and check-in system: you locked the section, worked in a draft, and then had to remember to click Save Version and Unlock or discard your draft. Colleagues couldn't see your work in progress until you did, and sections could stay locked to someone who had forgotten to release them. We've simplified this so that the section editor behaves like a modern document tool.
Building on the concept details we added to the taxonomy browser in the previous release, you can now search it. Search by label or by technical name, and narrow the results by the concept's data type and period type, so you can get to the right concept without expanding the tree by hand.
Since the 25 May release you've been able to assign a root abstract to an individual fact. You can now assign one to a whole table instead, for example "Statement of Financial Position", and every fact in that table follows it. If you tag inside a table that doesn't have a root abstract yet, Vicosight picks one from the concept you've applied and assigns it to the table for you. You can see the table's root abstract on the Presentation tab of the Inspector.
The same tab now has a Presentation Label Role selector, where you can choose how a concept is labelled in the presentation hierarchy: Standard, Total, Period Start, Period End or Net label. Only the roles that the taxonomy supports for that concept are offered, and you can return to the default at any time by choosing Standard Label.
